Leah Loftin is an American actress and filmmaker, whose work was named “fearless” by The New York Times. Leah recently guest starred as Helen Field in The Blacklist (NBC), as Maggie “Tweetie” McGuire in New Amsterdam (NBC), and can currently be seen in the limited series The Green Veil starring John Leguizamo (THE NETWORK). Next up: the role of Lisa in the feature film Notice to Quit, opening in theaters nationwide.
As a filmmaker, Loftin was recently awarded the UK’s Silver Medal for Nonfiction at the 1.4 Awards for Brilliant Filmmaking, and her experimental film work was a finalist for the Aesthetica Art Prize 2022. She was named a “new director to watch” by SHOOT Magazine as part of the New Directors Showcase. Her work has premiered at a number of OSCAR and BAFTA-qualifying festivals, including DOC NYC, the Ann Arbor Film Festival (opening night selection), Aesthetica Film Festival (UK), FLICKERS’ Rhode Island International Film Festival, and Shorts on Tap London, winning awards at film festivals in Berlin, Toronto, Austin, and Bucharest. Her most recent OSCAR-qualifying film on the war in Ukraine was awarded Best Documentary Short at the Lighthouse International Film Festival and is distributed by GOOD DOCS.
Her film roles began in the Oscar-winning Monster's Ball, and she has appeared in award-winning independent films that have screened across the globe. With an emphasis on devised/physical theatre adaptations of both new and classical plays, Leah has performed theatrically Off-Broadway, throughout the US, Canada, and Russia. Formally trained with the Moscow Art Theatre (MXAT) at A.R.T., Leah was selected for an extended theatre performance residency in Moscow and was an original cast member of the world premiere of a previously unpublished play by Tennessee Williams.
A proud native Texan, Leah was born and raised in the small town of Crosby, Texas.
